New in Paris

After we got married in our hometown, my husband and I decided to begin an adventure in the most beautiful city in the world. For us, to live in Paris has been a dream come true. The streets full of stories, the walls full of history and the sidewalks full of strangers. This city was meant to be beautiful and yes it is!

This adventure began when we decided to buy plane tickets a few months ago, we decided to leave our family, friends and country behind to start a new chapter. Although it might be a little crazy to start from scratch in a new country with a different language it’s a risk we are willing to take. Every risk comes with a package full of things (knowledge, growth and experience) all worth it in this life we have.
We got married on Saturday, august 23rd, and on Monday we were on the airport with our 6 bags waiting for our plane to Paris. Although we were a little lost when we arrived we knew we had to get a taxi to the city because here is not allowed to carry that many bags in the bus. At this moment we knew we had to spend some extra money in transportation, on the airport we saw a shuttle bus by Iberia that charges you a establish fee *this means you don’t have to pay more if there is a traffic jam* and for the extra weight we paid 2 euros each. Which means we paid 34 euros for the two of us with six bags and they left us in the door of the building. *I recommend you this service a taxi can be between 50 or 100 euros depending on traffic or how far you are going*.

As I told you, the shuttle bus left us in the door of our new home, an old building (probably 1800-1900) beautiful, like all of them here, a nice girl was waiting for us in the fourth floor she said hi from the windows, waiving her hands. At that moment I was happy, finally we were here in this amazing place ready to start this new life: What a dream come true! What an amazing welcome!
We paid our driver and there was Elise waiting for us at the door, she gave us a hand with our bags, she must be an angel.  The bags were incredibly heavy (of course our lives packed in six bags) we had to carried them through this mini spiral stairs *is really weird elevators in Paris* to the fourth floor. After getting all the bags up one by one we finally met our new beautiful small apartment. We loved it! Just perfect for us, a small kitchen with a “mini frigo” (small refrigerator), a washing machine (What a luxury my family said to me because here in France is not very common to have a washer), and a sofa-bed (perfect for visits). The most amazing thing about the apartment is the view, we have the church of the Sacré-Cœur to our left, so if you watch through the windows you see it in front of you.

Our view

If you come to Paris you must visit this church, is white and on the top of a mountain, the area around the church is Mont-Martre where all the painters are is beautiful.
Now I have two weeks living here so I’ll be updating the blog very soon. bye!
